(See page 33.) Much of this experience has come through multi-year partnerships with VA medical centers and military bases nationwide, National Defense University, UCLA Veterans Family Wellness Center, Boulder Crest Retreat Centers, New York City Veterans Mental Health Coalition, and more. This Phase 3 clinical trial includes 450 veterans with documented PTSD who are being randomized to receive either Transcendental Meditation or Present Centered Therapy. The treatments are matched for the number of sessions and length of treatment for quality control. Veterans then engage in six months of post-treatment follow-up. The primary outcomes of the study are change in PTSD symptom severity as measured by the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) for DSM 5. Other main study outcomes include suicidal ideation and behavior, substance use, and depression, assessed by clinical interviews and self-report questionnaires.
