For almost 20 years, Dr. Ragland has lived and practiced in one of the poorest and most traumatized communities in the nations capital, gaining the trust and respect of the residents. For the past three years, she has actively addressed heart disease in vulnerable Black communities through her annual Heart-to-Heart Red Carpet Affair, which educates families about the signs and symptoms of heart disease and introduces practical ways for families to address the underlying issues that contribute directly to hypertension, heart attacks, stroke, and death. 46'
